Unilin FR/BGM Thin-R Flat Roof Insulation Board is a high-performance rigid PIR insulation board specifically designed for flat roof applications using partially bonded and torch-on built-up bituminous felt roofing systems.
The board features a rigid polyisocyanurate (PIR) insulation core with a polypropylene fleece-finished bitumen/glass fibre working surface and mineral glass facing to the underside. This specialist facing makes FR/BGM compatible with most bituminous-based roofing systems while providing excellent thermal performance.
At 100mm thick, each board measures 1200mm x 1200mm and covers 1.44m². A pack contains 5 boards, providing a total coverage of 7.2m².
Suitable for both new-build and refurbishment flat roofing projects, Unilin FR/BGM provides a durable and thermally efficient insulation solution for professional roofing applications.

Unilin FR/BGM 100mm is designed primarily for flat roofing applications and is particularly suited to:
Partially bonded built-up bituminous felt systems
Torched-on built-up bituminous felt roofing systems
Flat roof new-build projects
Flat roof refurbishment projects
Concrete roof decks
Metal roof decks
Timber roof decks, subject to the appropriate roof specification
The product should be installed as part of a properly designed roofing system and in accordance with Unilin Insulation's installation guidance and the waterproofing system manufacturer's recommendations.
Unilin FR/BGM offers a declared thermal conductivity within the range of 0.024–0.027 W/mK, depending on product configuration. Its PIR insulation core provides high thermal performance while helping minimise the insulation thickness required to achieve the desired roof U-value.
Actual U-values depend on the complete roof construction, including deck type, insulation thickness, fixing method and other components. Project-specific U-value calculations should therefore be confirmed where required.
The FR/BGM board incorporates a specialist bitumen/glass fibre working surface designed for compatibility with most bituminous-based roofing systems.
The polypropylene fleece-finished surface provides a suitable interface for partially bonded and torch-on built-up felt systems, while the underside incorporates a mineral glass facing.
Always confirm compatibility and installation requirements with the waterproofing system manufacturer before installation.
Boards should be installed in accordance with the project specification and Unilin Insulation installation guidance.
Where mechanical fixing is required, the number and arrangement of fixings will depend on factors including roof dimensions, building height, location and wind-loading requirements.
For 1200mm x 1200mm boards, Unilin generally indicates a minimum of six fixings per board; however, the final fixing specification should always be determined by the project requirements and relevant fixing/waterproofing system guidance.
Torch-on roofing systems should only be installed by appropriately trained personnel with suitable fire precautions in place.
Store insulation boards in a dry, protected location and keep them clear of the ground. Protect boards from prolonged exposure to moisture, rain and adverse weather conditions.
Boards should be handled carefully to prevent damage to the edges, corners and specialist facings. Insulation should remain protected from rain penetration during installation and construction breaks.

Product specifications and pack quantities should be checked before ordering, particularly for large or project-specific requirements.
Thermal performance and U-values depend on the complete roof construction. Installation should comply with current building regulations, project specifications, Unilin Insulation guidance and the recommendations of the selected waterproofing system manufacturer.
For torch-on applications, the suitability of all materials and substrates should be assessed before work begins and appropriate fire safety precautions must be followed.
