Introduction
With the rapid changes in weather patterns in recent years, it has become critical to treat our homes and buildings with high-quality insulation material. With this burden on our shoulders, deciding which brand to select from the many options on the market becomes extremely difficult. We have provided you with a solution to this problem.
Kingspan insulation is one of the brands that has been tested and is said to have a great result in home insulation out of all the insulation materials available on the market. The next issue is determining which material should be used where among all of these Kingspan subcategories. So, in order to assist you in resolving this issue, we have listed the materials that will best suit various locations in your home. First, we'll go over some of the different types of Kingspan products that are available:
Kooltherm by Kingspan
Kingspan Kooltherm is a phenolic insulation material that is designed primarily for commercial and residential applications. It has a high tolerance, unrivaled performance, and a variety of very durable phenolic insulation materials. Out of all the products on the market, Kooltherm sheets have the lowest possible 'thermal transmittance.' It is also highly resistant to water vapour. It absorbs as little as 2% of moisture. It has a compressive strength of around 175kpa. All Kooltherm models are made with blowing agents that have zero ODP (Ozone Depletion Potential) and a low GWP (Global Warming Potential), making them environmentally friendly.
We now tell you exactly which material is best suited for which part of your home and will produce the best results:
Insulation for the Floor
Floor insulation is a critical consideration that must be addressed. Kingspan K5 is the best material for floor insulation. It has a glass tissue texture and a thermal conductivity of 0.021-0.020W/mK. Kingspan Styrozone is another option. Its flexible thickness ranges from 30mm to 140mm, allowing it to be used anywhere in your home. The Kingspan TF70 range includes materials that are specifically designed for floor insulation. It has a thermostat core on both surfaces and a foil faced thermal resistance of 0.022 W/mK. The Kingspan TF70 board is the most commonly used floor insulation in the Kingspan product line.
Internal Partitions
Internal walls must be very well insulated because a variety of factors can cause heat loss, which can lead to problems such as dampness. Kooltherm k17 is an insulated plasterboard that is used to insulate internal walls. It is made of plasterboard on one side and glass tissue polyiso on the other. Thermal conductivity ranges between 0.02 and 0.19 W/mK. They are extremely resistant.
K18, like k17, is intended for internal wall insulation. It has plasterboard on one side and composite foil on the other. Thermal conductivity ranged between 0.02 and 0.19 W/mK.
Outside Walls
While we are preoccupied with internal insulation, it is also critical to consider external wall insulation. Kooltherm k5 board is intended solely for external wall insulation, particularly with dry brick walls and cladding systems. Thermal conductivity ranges from 0.020 to 0.023 W/m.K. It has the texture of glass tissue. The K5 offers a very flexible application process and is readily available for use as external wall insulation.
Insulation for the Roof
Heat is lost through the roofs of our homes and other structures. If they are not properly insulated, condensation may form as they are exposed to rain and moisture. This will not only damage your building but will also have a negative impact on your health. Roof insulation with Kooltherm k7 boards is used under slates or tiles. K7 board has a composite foil texture and a thermal conductivity range of 0.020-0.023 W/m.K. There is a special range of Kingspan TR26 and TR27 with a coated glass tissue surface on both sides. Plain or vegetated roofs can be perfectly insulated with either the H350R or N300R models of Kingspan Styrozone. The dimensions of the boards are 1.25 by 0.6m. Because of its high compressive strength, H350R is used in a wide range of house insulation applications. KingspanTP10 is also suitable for insulating warm or pitched roofs. The TP10 board is a polyiso board with foil faces on both sides, similar to the TF70 board.
Cavity Walls
Cavity walls are an area that many people overlook during the insulation process, which leads to a lot of problems later on. You must not make this mistake and must immediately insulate your cavity walls. Kingspan k8 board is a type of Kooltherm designed specifically for cavity wall insulation. Thermal conductivity ranges between 0.020 and 0.023 W/m.K. It has a composite foil texture. You can also choose the Kingspan k12 board, which will give you good results. They have a composite foil facing on both surfaces, which improves insulation. When deciding which is best, it is recommended to know what board will suit. The Kooltherm range will always give you a better thermal result when compared to a standard Polyiso board.
Rainscreen
Rain screens are also available from Kingspan. The Kingspan Kooltherm k15 is specifically designed for this purpose. It has a thermoset phenolic core and a thermal conductivity range of 0.020-0.023 W/m.K, k15 is also known to provide good rain screen insulation. These boards have been specifically tested for rain screen applications and are ideal products when installed according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Installation
Installation is a critical step. To begin with, Kooltherm boards should never be stored outside; instead, keep them dry and away from moisture. Boards that have been exposed to water or other forms of moisture should not be used for insulation. Methyl Ethyl ketone can be harmful to the core of the boards; therefore, no product containing this solvent should come into contact with the board.
The board should be precisely cut based on the correct measurements.
Floor insulation will require two layers of board, and a polythene sheet will be overlaid after the floorboard is installed to prevent moisture from entering. It is also important to avoid installing the board under a direct load foundation point. A single layer of insulation will be required for the walls. Vertical joints must coincide with vertical members when installing boards in external walls. Boards must be lightly butted to facilitate the insulation process. When installing ceiling insulators, use insulation fasteners with a head diameter of at least 35mm. This will ensure that your board is permanently repaired. Taping can be used to secure wall insulators as well. Aluminium foil with a width of 48mm can be used to do so.
Plasterboards can be fixed using either an adhesive bond or by mechanical fitting. This is determined by the wall to which the plasterboard will be attached. While the cavity boards will be secured with wall ties or retaining clips.
Only authorized installers should install external wall insulation boards. It requires a higher level of technical skill and cannot be installed without the assistance of an expert.
